Cardiac CT

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women in the western world (60%).  The coronary angiogram as well as calcium scoring (plaques that calcify) forms part of this examination. Quantifying the calcium in the coronary arteries can give a patient a numeric indication for risk of a cardiac event in the next 5 years. The accumulation of the plaques can be effectively treated if diagnosed early, before symptoms become apparent. This scan is performed at our Mediclinic Vergelegen branch.
